Laura joined Antfarm in August of 2006. She is a graduate of Brevard
College's Fine Arts program, where she was introduced to a style of
printmaking that allowed her to marry her love of nature with an eye for
composition and color. Striving to preserve natural patterns and rhythms,
her monoprints and handbound books enhance the natural qualities of organic
material. These natural patterns, such as the veins in a single leaf or
the
cyclic rhythms of seasons, surround us continually. Laura creates prints
that allow these qualities into the home so that we may be embraced by
nature even in the isolation of the dwellings we have created. Her
monoprints are created using organic matter placed on a bed of manipulated
inks. After printing, many are further transformed using other media to
enhance certain natural qualities. Thus creating a work of art that extends
nature‚s reach and soothing qualities.
