Falbo
Maria
Falbo was born in New Mexico and grew up in West Virginia. Her education
and work life have been spent in the area of physics with the exception
of a year in the Master of Architecture program at UNC-Charlotte. She
now divides her time between teaching physics, painting and many other
interests. The subject matter of her work is varied, but highly influenced
by nature (human and other). She works mainly in acrylics and
attempts to represent qualities of things and not the things themselves
through composition, layering, symbol and color. After creating study
sketches from life she combines elements of the sketches with reference
photographs until achieving a satisfying composition. Basic color palettes
are dictated by the subject matter but evolve with slight color changes
on the canvas until a painting seems finished. Maria is an active
volunteer in the Fine Arts League of Cary and her work can be seen
hanging in many places around the triangle.
